YES Update - January 2014 to December 2014 |
|
Yes commenced the year recording "Heaven and Earth" in Los Angeles, their first album with vocalist Jon Davison. The album was released in July 2014 to a very mixed reaction from both fans and critics alike but still achieved brief appearances in the UK and US Top 30 album charts. On the touring front, Yes continued their 'Three Album' tour in Canada, U.K. and Europe before switching mid-year to a different set list in America, Australia, New Zealand and Japan that featured all of the "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge" albums, interspersed with a couple of tracks from "Heaven and Earth".
A live album on CD/DVD/Bluray titled "Like It Is - Yes at the Bristol Hippodrome" was released in December 2014 featuring excerpts of the 'Three Album' tour. The "Songs From Tsongas" DVD from the 2004 tour by the classic Yes lineup received a substantial upgrade with release in 2014 on Bluray. Also released in 2014 were Steven Wilson remixes of "The Yes Album" and "Relayer" in both stereo and surround sound on CD/DVD/ Bluray.
Jon Anderson meanwhile launched a new project with Jean Luc Ponty known as the Anderson Ponty band. The group recorded live performances in Aspen, Colorado USA for release in early 2015 and further shows are anticipated. Rick Wakeman celebrated the 40th anniversary of his "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" album with a UK tour that included a full orchestra, choir and band.
